Tony Nyiam
President Goodluck Jonathan has replaced Col. Tony Nyiam (Rtd) with Chief Solomon Asemota, SAN, as member
of the Advisory Committee on National Dialogue.
Nyiam has courted controversy when he shouted down Edo State Governor, Adam Oshiomohle, in Benin, capital of Edo. Oshimohle had expressed doubt about the credibility of the proposed National Dialogue and Nyiam had told him to shout up. Nyiam’s outburst provided enough fodder to feed the sceptics of the National Dialogue and they called it a distraction.
In a statement signed by Mr. Sam Nwaobasi, the special
assistant on Media to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Ayim Pius Ayim, Chief Asemota is to resume with the Committee
with effect from 6th November, 2013. Asemota was nominated by Prof. Ben Nwabueze, who had excused himself from the National Dialogue due to ill-health. Nwabueze had asked President Jonathan to allow Asemota replace him (Nwabueze).
