The Bayelsa State Government, has rubbished the claim that the recent cabinet shake-up was as a result of purported cold war between Governor Seriake Dickson, President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.
In a statement, Tuesday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr.Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Bayelsa State government described the rumour as a deliberate propagation of falsehood and handiwork of mischief makers.
According to him, the minor shake-up was due to the need to inject new blood into the system in order to impact more positively on the people of Bayelsa State.
“Contrary to the reports, having been in the saddle for nearly three years and knowing that this is an election year, the governor decided to effect the shake up to inject new blood into the system to bring about the needed changes to impact more positively on the people of the state,” he said.
“This was well captured in the government statement announcing the changes. In furtherance of his commitment to deliver more robustly on his administration’s restoration agenda, Governor Dickson has stepped up efforts geared towards re-organising the machinery of the government,” he added.
He however noted that this is not the first cabinet shake up under the restoration government of Dickson, saying that this exercise will surely not be the last.
