Abia: Gov Orji flags off 2015 budget, says it’s for projects completion

Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has flagged off the 2015 budget defence with a charge to all MDAs and stakeholders to remain focused and work towards timely realization of the objectives.

Performing the ceremony at the conference room of the Abia State Planning Commission, Umuahia, Tuesday, the Governor said the exercise marks the commencement of the state 2015 budget.

He explained that the budget is aptly tagged Valedictory Budget, adding that his administration has projected the budget on the completion of all on-going projects initiated by the government.

He said that as his government winds down, he makes bold to say that it has made imprints having proceeded to make monumental changes in the state.

The Governor charged the 2015 budget committee to ensure that only projects with special needs to the people make it into the 2015 budget and called on all MDAs to give timely response to the call circular.

He maintained that the 2014 budget is currently running and being implemented to the letter with good results being achieved in the development of all parts of the state.

According to him, as an important annual ritual, the careful preparation and implementation of a sound budget system remain necessary for the effective achievement of set objective of development.

Governor Orji said the valedictory budget will also help in realizing his vision of making Abia one of the strongest economies in the country.

Earlier in her address, the Executive Secretary, Abia State Planning Commission, Mrs. Adanma Iheuwa said MDAs have prepared their estimates within the context of a medium term Expenditure framework to keep to the required standard, pointing out that 2015 Estimates Proposals from MDAs are based on detailed classification of functions to enable the commission achieve an overall budget outlay for the state.

She appreciated the support of the Governor to the commission and promised not to disappoint him.
