Prince Kelechi Apugo, the son of Abia State Peoples Democratic Party’s political power house, Chief Benjamin Benson Apugo has joined the race for the Abia State House of Assemble seat in the upcoming 2015 general elections.

Prince Apugo while speaking to newsmen recently in Umuahia the Abia State capital said his decision to join the race to represent the people of Umuahia East Constituency was in compliance with the pressures and wishes of his people to do so without further delay.

Apugo popularly referred to as Mkpurumbu Ibeku which literally means ‘the first seed of Ibeku’ when translated has since declared his intention under the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, with a promise to offer qualitative ideas, proffer solutions as well as seek only to promote the lives of the people.

“I know we have Political Heavy Weights and Gladiators in our Constituency but be rest assured that I have come to give my People a qualitative and Superior advice,” he said.

“My vision is to unite our people and create an atmosphere where gossip and Poverty shall no longer hold sway, where love shall prevail over hatred and education over illiteracy,” he added.

On how he plans to achieve this objective, Apugo said he believes 75 per cent of the youths should have access to tertiary education and still earn a living, so he is working on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Open University on admissions to grant students work permit.

According to him, there is also an empowerment programme for the youths which will come up two months after he is elected to the State House of Assembly

He however maintained that he is not in the race to compete with anybody but himself and urged the people of Umuahia East Constituency to keep him in their prayers as he embarks on the next phase of his life.
