2015: Imo Speaker warns supporters not to insult anybody on his behalf

The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has cautioned his teeming supporters across the zones never to engage in insults of any kind against his perceived political opponents, as the race for the 2015 general elections gather momentum.

The Speaker, who was addressing top ranking community and political leaders in Okigwe local government area of the state, weekend, during his sensitization visit to the area over his senatorial ambition in next year’s election, noted that hitting up the political atmosphere because of an individual’s political interest was totally unacceptable, as power solely comes from God.

He said the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Okigwe zone remained one united family, maintaining that nobody’s political aspiration was worth being used to destabilize the party, as APC was set to ensure that good tenets of democracy prevailed in its fold.

Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, emphasized the need for every aspirants in the party to have the sense of service and brotherhood in him, pointing out that his perceived opponent for the party’s ticket, chief Clem Owunna remains his brother, as well as a man of integrity and a man of his word.

He maintaining that despite any political interests occasioned by his friends, brothers and associates, he strongly believes that Owunna would never be distracted in his ventures, as he (chief Owunna) once told him that he had no intentions of vying for any elective position when he consulted him at his Aba residence.

He described Chief Owunna, as a successful business mogul, whose business enterprise could better be likened to the famous Aliko Dangote, pointing out that with his rising business profile, he could become one of the richest businessmen in the country and Africa.

The Speaker, assured the people that Okigwe zone was in to record resounding success in infrastructural, social and human capital developments.

He said his representation would focus on the attraction of massive federal presence to the zone to change the economic status of the people, while women and youths empowerments, scholarships to indigent students, as well as the improvement of agricultural activities would be given a pride of place.

Contributing, the President General, Odinma Okigwe, a socio-cultural organization, and the chairman Imo State elders advisory council, Chief EJK Onyewuchi, described Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, as the roaring lion and worthy son of Okigwe zone, who had jettisoned his personal gains and comforts, even as a Speaker to attract meaningful development in all facets of the economy of the zone.

He called on the people to ensure the sustainability of these giant strides by supporting Uwajumogu, whom he described as a consummate politician, who understands the act of lawmaking, as well as the dynamics and tides of politics for the benefit of his people, to represent Okigwe Zone at the senate.
